Local Government Reorganisation The Government has delayed its decision on the future structure of local councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough until October 2026. Elections for any new councils are still expected to take place in May 2027. This could have implications for how local services such as highways, education, and social care are delivered in the future. Learning Disability Services Learning Disability Partnership services across Cambridgeshire, including the City & South Cambridgeshire area, have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following inspections earlier this year. The report highlighted compassionate, person-centred support and significant improvements since previous inspections. Councillors James Hutchcraft and Aisha Rashid Local Government Reorganisation Delayed The Government has delayed its decision on Local Government Reorganisation in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, despite councils across the area having invested significant time and resources preparing for it. This latest announcement prolongs uncertainty for local services, staff and communities, at a time when residents deserve certainty rather than further delay. Had the Government been serious about its stated aims of reducing costs and bureaucracy and improving public services, this ought to have been a straightforward decision. Foundation Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a friendly, non-profit children’s BJJ club based in Over, Cambridgeshire. Our classes help children develop confidence, coordination, fitness, resilience and practical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills in a fun and supportive environment. Classes are suitable for beginners, and trial sessions are available for children interested in giving BJJ a go. Swavesey Camera Club – Welcome Evening
The club will start the new season on Thursday 3rd September 2026 – 7pm – 9pm. The Welcome night is FREE to attend to find out more about the club including the new season’s programme, meet club members and see some images from over the summer break. There will be wine, soft drinks and nibbles ! We are always keen to encourage new members to join and pride ourselves on being a very friendly, welcoming club. Memory Cafe and Saturday Lunch Club
What a great morning and lunch. We had 28 guests at our Memory Café with a few new faces that’s terrific to see. Rebecca Mitchell provided some great and enthusiastic entertainment, so enjoyable. Lunch was another triumph, great food, so many fantastic comments from our diners. Well done again to our cooks and those serving. We welcome all to our Café and Lunch Club, it’s such an enjoyable time. It was so good to see all and looking forward to August..
