At our March AGM, Chris Atkin was the guest speaker, sharing insights from his book Just
as Well, It\u2019s Not About the Bike, a playful nod to Lance Armstrong’s iconic memoir It’s Not
About the Bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his book, Chris recounts his adventure of buying the cheapest bike he could find and
embarking on a 1,300 km journey from Valencia to Gibraltar. Along the way, he cycled
through some of Spain’s most picturesque towns, meeting a series of colourful characters,
including a man who lived in a cave and an Airbnb host who confessed to strangling the
previous guest. Chris also shared fascinating bits of history about the places he visited,
making for a talk that was both engaging and humorous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In other business, the committee was re-elected for another year, with the exciting addition
of Sonia Cumming joining our ranks. We are thrilled that Denise has agreed to continue as
President for a further year, and we look forward to a year filled with activities, fun, and
friendship under her leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our next meeting will be on April 7th where our speaker will be Alison Moore talking about the
