Celebrating a Successful First Year of Over Village News
Just over a year since launching the new Over Village News website and email newsletter, we are delighted to have amassed hundreds of subscribers, the support of many wonderful local businesses and a community of contributors from clubs, groups and local services and organisations who commit time every week and month to provide important news and event updates to our audiences.
Back in December 2022, on hearing the news that the printed Over News, which landed through our letterboxes for many years, unfortunately was coming to an end, a small group of volunteers began to investigate a number of solutions to keep our village connected. Over many late evening Zoom meetings spent searching for solutions to the challenges of rising print costs, the idea to join forces with the Over Village website to develop a new, holistic digital village news channel was born. We reviewed how we could best fill the gap between the popular Over Village Standard Facebook group and the previous paper version of the Over News. With lots of helpful support from the existing Over News and Over Village website teams, Over Parish Council, Over Village Standard, HI HUB and local advertisers and contributors, Over Village News formed as a registered unincorporated community organisation in July 2023.
Over the continuing months, new ideas developed and technical challenges arose and resolved, and in October 2023 Over Village News went live, shortly followed by a regular email newsletter commencing in November 2023.
The success of the Over Village News is thanks to a number of important contributions so please keep supplying us with:
- Local News and Events to share with our subscribers
- Local Businesses who are looking for advertising opportunities
- Volunteers to help support and grow Over Village News
