Locals, David Missen and Sandie Jardine, take on Year-Long Marathon Challenge to Raise Funds for MOVE Against Cancer

David Missen, a resident of Over near Cambridge, along with his running companion Sandie, are undertaking a formidable challenge: completing a marathon each month over a twelve-month period.

This extraordinary feat, which began earlier this year, is aimed at raising £5,000 for MOVE, a charity dedicated to inspiring people to Move Against Cancer. MOVE works tirelessly to promote the benefits of exercise during and after cancer treatment. Increasing evidence supports the idea that physical activity can have a profound impact on the well-being of cancer patients. Exercise is known to reduce cancer-related fatigue, alleviate stress, depression, and anxiety, and help build confidence and self-esteem. David’s mission is to raise awareness of these benefits while also contributing vital funds to support MOVE’s ongoing work.

To date, David and Sandie have already completed TEN marathons, with two more to go before they reach their goal. Their final marathon is scheduled for December, marking the culmination of a year of dedication, perseverance, and sheer determination. David, who has been inspired by MOVE’s mission, said,

“The challenge has been tough, but knowing that our efforts are helping people affected by cancer keeps us going. MOVE’s work is incredibly important, and we’re proud to support them.”

The community is encouraged to rally behind David and Sandie as they continue their remarkable journey.

Supporters can make a donation via David’s JustGiving page, with all proceeds going directly to MOVE to help them continue their invaluable work. Support David in his epic challenge by visiting his JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/david-missen-262
