Over W.I.
At the beginning of October, we enjoyed a delightful river cruise with the Windsor and Maidenhead Boat Company aboard The Georgian — a 30-metre river cruiser complete with an upper viewing deck and a charming restaurant below deck.
We were treated to a Prosecco afternoon cream tea, featuring plenty of fizz, tea, and coffee, alongside a delicious spread of delicate finger sandwiches, dainty petit fours, and freshly baked fruit scones with jam and cream.
We were fortunate to have calm, mild weather, allowing us to spend much of the trip on the viewing deck. From there, we spotted kingfishers, cormorants, herons, red kites, and admired the stunning riverside homes along the famous “Millionaires’ Row.”

It was wonderful to see so many members join the outing, making it an especially enjoyable and memorable day for everyone.
Our regular October meeting featured the wonderful Evelyn Nallen, who shared her lifelong passion for the recorder. Evelyn introduced us to an astonishing variety of instruments — from those small enough to fit in the palm of your hand to others so large they require two people to lift! Her beautiful playing captivated us all, and she encouraged everyone to take up the recorder and help keep this timeless musical skill alive.
We’re proud to be an ever-growing and thriving group with almost 70 members. Whether it’s our monthly meetings, guest speakers, book clubs, games nights, walking or crafting groups, outings, or workshops, we strive to offer something for everyone. Despite our increasing numbers, we always extend a warm welcome to new and prospective members.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday 3rd November at 7.30pm at the Over Community Centre — we hope to see you there!
