St Mary’s Church

I write to you as your new vicar having moved into the village in August last year. Katie and myself, and our daughter Lily, are grateful for the warm welcome we have received and are enjoying settling into village life.

I come to you from a post in the centre of Cambridge where I was curate of two churches (not at the same time) – ‘curate’ is the Church of England jargon for somebody in their first job as a minister. And before I was ordained I was a teacher in Special Educational Needs, focusing on children with particular mental health and behaviour needs. In my less-professional life I am a singer and, like all clergy, I also enjoy hillwalking (for which I usually travel to Cornwall or Wales).

I have enjoyed meeting many people from the village at services and events and look forward to many more such opportunities. It was particularly lovely to share Christmas cheer with so many over the festive season. But I am, of course, your vicar all year round and would be most pleased to meet you if I still haven’t already. Whether for a lighthearted conversation, or something more serious in confidence, I will always be pleased to make time for anyone in the village. One of my favourite aspects of ministry is teaching, and answering people’s questions; if you would like to find out more about the Christian faith, or simply if you have a burning question you’ve always wanted to ask a priest, do get in touch!

Grace and peace be with you all.
