Report of Over Day Centre Bike Rides and Social, Sunday 29th June 2025 

76 riders raise £3,017.35 for the Day Centre

Such amazing support from our local cycle club members, families and individuals who enjoyed three rides though the South Cambridgeshire countryside, with a sunny day, gentle breeze and cloud keeping temperatures reasonable. The 100k ride worked its way from Over to Wilburton, Elsworth, Haslingfield, Bourn, Fen Drayton  and back to Over for the after-rides BBQ, bar and live music at the Over Community Centre. The 50k from Over went through Cottenham, Boxworth, Cambourne and Fen Stanton to return to Over for the social. And, the family ride followed the busway cycle track from Over to St Ives and back to join the party.  All children who completed a ride were presented with a finisher medal, to help make the event a memorable day.

Very grateful thanks must go to our most generous sponsors : Law & Lewis, Joiners; All Eyes, spectacle makers; Redmayne, Miller, Rees, estate agents, and Highgate Veterinary Practice whose funds met all event expenses so that every penny of rider donations will go to the Day Centre, this year to enhance client activities and for capital items. Riders and friends made very generous donations. Very grateful thanks too to the providers of raffle prizes, the rides marshalls, sweepers, registration teams, Tesco Bar Hill for drinks and snacks for the family ride, first-aid, mechanical and broom-wagon supporters, sweepers and graphic designer; and Willingham Wheels and Swavesey & Over Cycling Club who planned the ride routes, risk-assessed and signed them.  In all, 110 signs were positioned to mark the various routes, with all collected in for next year!!

In all, a lovely day, testimony to great community and local business involvement in support of the Over Day Centre charity. We look forward to seeing you at future events.
