Over Players – Murder on the Nile
Rehearsals are well underway for our production of Murder on the Nile. Show dates are Thursday 28th May – Saturday 30th May 2026 starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at overplayers.uk at a price of only £13 which includes a free programme where you will be introduced to the cast, three of whom are new members. Please do come and support your local amateur dramatic company.

Over Day Centre 5-Pub Challenge
Join us for round sixteen of our 5-pub Challenge walk! See old friends and make new ones. All proceeds to go to the Over Day Centre, this year to help raise funds for a new day room extension. Registration opens at 9:30 am at the Day Centre for a 12.5-mile walk through the beautiful Cambridgeshire fens to the The Pike & Eel, Old Ferry Boat, The Three Tuns, Swavesey Windmill and back to The Admiral. Minimum donation of £15 per adult, children free. Under 18s are very welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The length of the route may make it unsuitable for younger children. Policing and Community Safety At its recent meeting, the County Council agreed to oppose any proposal to merge local police forces into larger regional or national bodies. Over Memory Cafe Update
Thank you all for a truly wonderful and entertaining morning at our St.George’s Day Café. KJ & The Katt made it a special morning, so many great comments from our guests and volunteers – fantastic songs, warm, happy and friendly, what a joyful café. Lunch was fully booked with 36 diners enjoying a wonderful lunch, beautifully cooked and served by our fabulous team of volunteers. Preparations underway for our next Café and Lunch Club, Saturday May 23, when we have Mawson’s Folly entertaining us. We do hope to see as many of you again. April 2026 Meeting Again, forty people attended to hear Roger Crabtree and Bob Bates tell the story of PYE in Cambridge, 1896 – 2026. Both worked there for many years from the 1950s/60s but in 2010 it became clear that the vast knowledge of the company would soon be lost. So, they interviewed over 60 former employees and in 2019 helped to set up a major PYE exhibition at the Cambridge Museum of Technology, with its entrance on Riverside into The Old Pumping Station in Cheddars Lane. Sing for Joy! Spring Concert
Sing for Joy is a community choir, amazingly in it’s 10th year now, that runs every fortnight on a Friday evening from 7.30 to around 9 pm during term time – we usually sing for an hour then have a cup of tea/coffee and a chat. It is open to any adult who wants a chance to sing without the restrictions of attending every week or having to audition. The venue alternates between the St Mary’s church hall in Over and the Village Institute, Longstanton. The choir are a friendly bunch and very welcoming to newcomers!
