Memory Cafe and Saturday Lunch Club – January 24 2026

Over Parish Council has a new website
The previous Parish Council website went offline unexpectedly when our former website provider ceased trading. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to retrieve the information held on the old site.We now have a new website in place, which is currently being rebuilt. South Cambs District Councillor (SCDC) Bill Handley’s Report to Over Residents – January 2026
Happy New Year everyone. SCDC pledges £900,000 to local organisations through 3-year Service Support Grant funding SCDC has just committed Service Support Grant funding of £300,000 a year to local groups to underpin the delivery of services to support people with their mental health, independent living, advice services, and to help residents through the cost-of-living crisis. I’m delighted to report that Over Day Centre, for the first time, is one of the recipients of this funding. SCDC’s Service Support Grant funding has almost doubled compared to the previous budget, made possible by prudent management of the council’s finances and a recognition of the acute need for these services. Over Gardening Club – meeting 21 January 2026
Over Gardening Club’s January meeting will be held in the main hall at Over Community Centre at 7.30pm. This month we have a talk by Barry Gayton entitled “Bulbs, Corms & Tubers”. We are a friendly group of gardeners and plant lovers who have regular meetings with a speaker and raffle and occasional plant sales. Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month; from September to May we meet at Over Community Centre where we usually have a guest speaker talking on various aspects of gardening, in June we often arrange a visit to a local garden and in July we hold a social evening. Swavesey Library has a new home!
Do come and visit our lovely new library. Follow the signs at the front of Swavesey Village College by the mini roundabout. NEW YEAR – Surgery Opening Hours Please note that we will be CLOSED at the weekends in addition to the bank holiday on Thursday 1st January. Normal opening hours on all other days during the holiday period. Please plan ahead and make sure you have enough medication. Over Memory Cafe and Lunch Club
We finished December on a high with a terrific morning at Over’s Memory Café. It is with great thanks to all our volunteers and guests in making time to join us. Rebecca Mitchell, a regular at the Day Centre, was brilliant, entertaining us with Rock & Roll classics. We had 14 guests, with a number joining us for the first time.
