Whether you're an embroiderer, crocheter, knitter, patchworker .......any form of textile artist or crafter really, and whatever level of skill you have, you'd be most welcome to join us in Over Community Centre on Friday mornings from 9.30. Our aim to get together to socialise through our hobbies, hopefully inspiring and helping each other to learn new skills. We meet in the lounge and support the centre by buying our drinks from the café. 1 event,The Swavesey & Over Tennis Club (SOTC) is holding free trial sessions at Swavesey Village College Sport Centre on: • Monday 3rd June – 6.30 to 8.30pm • Friday 7th June – 6.30 to 8.30pm • Monday 10th June – 6.30 to 8.30pm We are a small friendly club and are after new members – whether you are new to the game or a seasoned player. Our club nights are Mondays, 6.30-8.30pm, plus most Fridays over the summer. Tennis is great for fitness, very social and the SOTC is good value with low club fees. Annual membership is £35 for adults, £20 for young people under 19, and concessions, £60 for couples (with other membership options also available). St Mary's Church Hall, Over Over and District Royal British Legion and Over Parish Council are hosting an event to commemorate the anniversary of the DDay landings. There are some national events that we will be joining such as the Ringing of Bells at 6.30pm and the Beacon Lighting at 9.15pm as requested by HM King Charles III. We are aiming to walk the distance from Over to Normandy around the village green on the 6th June and would welcome anyone who wishes to join us. There will be an opportunity to walk the route, and pass the five points set up to represent the Sword, Juno, Utah,Gold and Omaha beaches, during the day or evening. We will need to cover 1000 laps of the green! There will be a pop up cafe in the evening serving drinks, hot dogs and cakes, candy floss and popcorn. Everyone is invited to join us as we commemorate this significant day in our history. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbours. |

Join David Chandler one of our expert volunteers, for a walk around the newest part of the reserve to look at all the wildlife that is starting to colonise. At this time of year, the reserve is alive with all sorts of sights and sounds which our knowledgeable volunteer will be able to show you. David is a freelance writer and wildlife guide, the author/co-author of 17 books including the RSPB Children's Guide to Bird Watching, Kingfishers, and A Beginner's Guide to Dragonflies & Damselflies, and a regular contributor to Bird Watching magazine. “Oh, yes, it is!” - The History of the English Pantomime. Speaker: Jim Stebbings. At least half of our members live in Over, including our Secretary. The History Society meets at 7.30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in The Carol Shaw Room at Swavesey Village College – through the main entrance then 20 metres along the corridor to the right.
