17 June. Richard Bentley and Over Rectory. Richard Hewlings. Richard Bentley (1662 – 1742), was a brilliant classical scholar and theologian and became Master of Trinity College, Cambridge in 1700. His contemptuous treatment of many eminent colleagues led to extensive controversy and litigation. A Fellow of the Royal Society, Bentley was interested in natural theology and the new physical sciences, subjects on which he corresponded with Isaac Newton – another difficult person. History Society’s main interest in him is that he built Over Rectory. At least half of our members live in Over, including our Secretary. Over Gardening Club's June meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th June, and will be a chance to visit some members' gardens within Over. For further info regarding venues and times please email overgardeningclub@gmail.com We are a friendly group of gardeners and plant lovers who have regular meetings with a speaker, a raffle and occasional plant sales. Meetings are monthly, from September to May, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Over Community Centre and we usually have a guest speaker talking on a various aspects of gardening. Membership runs annually from 1 April to 31 March and is currently £15.00 per year. Visitors to meetings are welcome but we do ask for a guest fee of £3.00 per visit. On production of a valid membership card a 10% discount is currently available on most items at Oakington Garden Centre, on plants at Parkhall Nursery, Somersham and also from Madingley Mulch. |

Our next Memory Café will again welcome Swavesey Community Choir with songs for you to enjoy. We also will have a short intermission of chair based exercise to Ballroom by Kelly. Our Cafe is in the Over Day Centre, to start at 10:00am on Saturday, June 28. All are welcome, please do come along.
