South Cambs District Councillor (SCDC) Bill Handley’s Report to Over Village News, July 2024

General Election 2024

As many are likely to be aware, at the General Election on 4th July 2024 the Liberal Democrat candidate Dr Ian Sollom became our new MP for the new constituency of St Neots and Mid-Cambridgeshire. More information can be found on the BBC’s website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg3j6eyyljdo

Adjustments to South Cambs Magazine summer 2024 edition

The calling of a snap general election by Rishi Sunak caught many people out. The delivery of the summer edition of the South Cambs magazine had to be delayed because it contains (as usual) quotes and images of a number of Councillors. If the council had published on the planned date, it would have fallen foul of the rules governing the pre-election period.  The subsequent edition which is being delivered now has reverted to the normal format.
