Let’s decorate the village for April!
The Spring Equinox has arrived, bringing warmer and sunnier days and we look forward to the lovely month of April. Following Mothering Sunday and Eid, April this year will include Easter, Passover and various Hindu festivals, as well as the new life of Spring in our flora and fauna. There are so many easy ways to decorate in celebration of any of these things, and it would be lovely to see lots of decorations around our village. Whether home-made or bought, they’ll be sure to raise a smile. We could put a wreath on the front door, pictures and decorations in windows, kebab sticks with decorations in pot plants, eggs…

Over W.I. March Update
At our March AGM, Chris Atkin was the guest speaker, sharing insights from his book Justas Well, It’s Not About the Bike, a playful nod to Lance Armstrong’s iconic memoir It’s NotAbout the Bike. In his book, Chris recounts his adventure of buying the cheapest bike he could find andembarking on a 1,300 km journey from Valencia to Gibraltar. Along the way, he cycledthrough some of Spain’s most picturesque towns, meeting a series of colourful characters,including a man who lived in a cave and an Airbnb host who confessed to strangling theprevious guest. Book Now: Men’s Breakfast at Over Baptist Church
You’re invited to a Men’s Breakfast at the Over Baptist Church (junction of Glover Street and New Road) on Saturday 22nd February from 8.30 to 10.00am. Following a cooked breakfast, our special guest, Giles Cornell will tell us briefly why he is a Christian and how his faith has affected his life and work. Giles has been married for 30 years and has two grown-up children. He has been the Senior Pastor of the Lighthouse Church in Ely for nearly 20 years. Gardening Club – upcoming meeting
The next Gardening Club meeting is on Wednesday 19th February at 7.30pm in the Over Community Centre Main Hall. The speaker will be Patricia from Oakington Garden Centre talking about their family-run business and their plans for the future. There will be free refreshments available at the start of the meeting. We will have our usual Raffle and the popular Flower of the Month Competition. The tubers for our Growing Potatoes in a Pot Competition will be handed out on the night. Visitors are welcome £3.

Casting Call: Over Players – Calendar Girls the Musical
The Over Players are looking to cast the roles of the schoolboys, Danny and Tommo, in our spring show Calendar Girls The Musical! About the roles: Danny: Chris & Rod’s son who is a conscientious head boy. Danny has 69 lines and a couple of songs. Tommo: Best friend to Danny and to his mum, Cora. Tommo has 29 lines and a couple of songs. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at Over Church Hall, with performances 28th – 31st May 2025.
