Next Swavesey and District History Society Event – 21st October 2025
Event Details: Bedrooms, Banquets and Balls. Speaker: John Vigar. At least half of our members live in Over, including our secretary. The History Society meets at 7.30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in The Carol Shaw Room at Swavesey Village College – through the main entrance then 20 metres along the corridor to the right. Over Gardening Club: September Meeting
Over Gardening Club’s September meeting will be held in the main hall at Over Community Centre on 17th September at 7:15pm. This month we have a talk by Michael Brown entitled “A Bouquet of Weeds”. We curse them and try to kill them, but in the past most of our common weeds were grown on purpose because they were useful; yes, even Ground Elder! South Cambs District Councillor Report
Bill Handley’s Report to Over residents – September 2025 SCDC makes £300,000 available to support community services SCDC has just launched a £300,000 funding programme which will help local groups deliver vital services to South Cambridgeshire residents. This Service Support Grant funding is a significant increase from the previous year’s budget of £167,400. The enhanced funding is intended to help exiting voluntary, community and social enterprise bodies deal with the difficulties faced by residents and to expand the scheme to benefit a greater number of organisations.
