Over Gardening Club – Lots coming up in 2025!
OVER GARDENING CLUB
On Wed 15th January at 7.30pm in the Main Hall of OCC, we have our next gardening club evening. We have a talk by Liz Porteous with the intriguing title…
‘Deadly, dangerous & downright annoying! Are garden plants friend or foe…?’
That’s a very good question…
This month we start back with our ongoing monthly ‘Flower of the Month’ competition. Please bring in 1 stem of a flower or flower head. It should be an interesting month… unless the cold weather has taken its toll. Last week I noticed I had Pelargoniums, Osteospermums, autumn Cyclamen and Snowdrops all flowering outside in my garden. I am as confused as the flowers…!
On Wed 19th February at 7.30pm we have a talk by Oakington Garden Centre and this will be followed by our (usually short) AGM.
COACH HOLIDAY TO VISIT GARDENS IN SOUTH WALES 2025
Over Gardening Club has asked Ponders to put together a 5 day trip to visit gardens in the South of Wales from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd May in 2025. This holiday is open to everyone in Over and nearby as well as Over Gardening Club members, friends and family.
You need to book asap and directly with Ponders who are organising this for us.
The coach will leave and return to Over (avoiding those extra pick up stops on other coach holidays), and will travel directly to the Best Western Abervan Beach Hotel on the sea front, Swansea. We are booked in for 4 nights bed and breakfast with dinner included.
We will visit 3 gardens, Aberglasny, National Botanic Garden of Wales and Dyffryn Gardens, and also have free time in Cardiff and Swansea with a trip to the Gower Peninsula, and The Mumbles. For more information call in to Ponders at 25 High Street, or ring them on 01954 232802. Details are also on Facebook Over Village Standard. Ponders also has a poster on display in their window.
DECEMBER SOCIAL EVENING
A very enjoyable evening was had by all, with plenty of mulled wine and mince pies, an enjoyable quiz, Secret Santa and grand raffle. The Christmas Table Decoration competition was won by Sue Bedlow and Cynthia Bidwell came 2nd.
