Over Day Centre 5-pubs Challenge Walk
Sunday 12th May 2024 With a sunny day and gentle breeze, 214 walkers enjoyed the challenge of visiting the 5 pubs on the 12.5 mile walk, along the River Great Ouse, adjoining meadows , Fen Drayton Nature Reserve and Over Orchard back to the Community Centre at Over. With 37 cakes baked by volunteers and 22 raffle prizes donated by local businesses and friends of the Over Day Centre, walkers enjoyed a party atmosphere when they collected their well-earned finisher certificates, for this the twelfth year of the 5-pubs walk. DDay 80th Anniversary Event – 6th June 2024
Over and District Royal British Legion and Over Parish Council are hosting an event tocommemorate the anniversary of the DDay landings.There are some national events that we will be joining such as the Ringing of Bells at 6.30pm andthe Beacon Lighting at 9.15pm as requested by HM King Charles III.We are aiming to walk the distance from Over to Normandy around the village green on the 6thJune and would welcome anyone who wishes to join us. Darryl Preston, the former frontline officer and previous incumbent, will serve another four year term. So what? So everything. An update from Fen Drayton Lakes
This September, on two dates only, we are bringing canoeing to Fen Drayton Lakes. You will be led on an exploratory journey around islands and reed to experience the reserve from an angle never previously seen by visitors. LONGSTANTON, NORTHSTOWE, OVER, OAKINGTON & WESTWICK Council composition Liberal Democrats 23 Conservatives 22 Labour 9 Independents 4 Non-aligned 3 County Council The Council has completed its third year as a Joint Administration, which has seen a successful partnering of Liberal Democrats, Independent and Labour Groups. The County Council is the statutory Local Authority for Highways, Social Care, Education, Waste and Recycling, Libraries and Leisure, Registration services (births, deaths, marriages), and Public Health. It also convenes citizenship ceremonies. The County Council is a partner organization on the Cambs and Peterborough Mayoral Combined Authority, which was created in 2017. It assumed the Transport Authority remit that previously sat with the County Council.…
