Over Gardening Club – March Meeting This Week
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 19th March from 7.15pm in the Main Hall at the Community Centre. The speaker will be Angela Potter talking about “Gardens I Have Visited”. We will have our usual Raffle and the Flower of the Month Competition. Free tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at the beginning of the meeting. Visitors are welcome for a £3 fee. Our speaker for the April meeting is Fiona Rose giving a talk entitled “In the Garden with William Morris: Flora as Art”. Four-day week consultation I’d like to remind everyone that a consultation on the council’s four-day week trial is open until 23rd March 2025. Join Easter Celebrations at St Mary’s Church
Join us on Saturday 19th April at 2pm for an Easter celebration at St Mary’s Church, Over. Starting in the Church Hall with craft and refreshments, moving to the Church for a short reflection about Easter which will be followed by egg hunt in the Churchyard. Lifesaving Information and Training
As many people know, Darryl Bass is our Community Lifesaver. We contacted him to find out more about life saving training here in the village: A cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, to anyone and the survival rate from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is approximately 8%. Survival is only possible if someone recognises what has happened and starts CPR immediately and, if available, a defibrillator is used to restart the heart. In my experience as a Paramedic, there is a critical delay in bystanders starting CPR and unfortunately a defibrillator is almost never used prior to the ambulance service arriving. Over Allotments
The village allotments, off Mustills Lane, are owned by the Church & Town Lands Charity of Over (reg no 202613). This Charity manages assets bequeathed by former residents of the parish of Over; income from these assets, after expenses, being divided annually between St Mary’s Church and other charitable purposes within the village for the general benefit of Over residents. If you are interested in renting an allotment for growing your own vegetables and flowers, please email ctlcharity@gmail.com for further information.
