The Big Sing with Over Singers and Drummers
The Over Community Singers and Drummers would like to invite you to a fun musical fundraising event in aid of the fabulous Over Day Centre. Our Drummers play traditional West African and Caribbean rhythms and our Singers bring you uplifting harmonies from all around the globe. There will be plenty of opportunities for our audience to join in with us too! The Big Sing with Drums will take place at the Over Community Centre on Sunday, 23 March, from 3pm. We are also hoping to run a raffle. Entry is free with donations invited. Supporting Over Day Centre is very close to our hearts.

Swavesey & District History Society – An Introduction
Swavesey & District History Society (The outstanding group to join). In the autumn of 1975 John Shepperson, BEM, of Boxworth End Farm, who had a very keen interest in the history of Swavesey and the surrounding area, formed Swavesey & District History Society. Fifty years later this well-established, popular and lively group continues to meet monthly. A full year’s membership costs £15, with a relaxed attitude to charging casual visitors. The season of meetings lasts from September to June with each subject and speaker listed in the Calendar section of Over Village News. Swavesey and District History Society – February meeting report
A week earlier than usual, 30 members and visitors attended a talk by David Duker from St Neots entitled “One of Our Own”, telling the story of Battle of Britain fighter pilot, Victor Ekins, MBE, DFC. When David was a child, his grandad told him stories of his wartime experience, especially in North Africa. In due course, with his interest focused on the Battle Of Britain pilots, David spent 10 years meeting and interviewing many of the fighter pilots who took part when they were typically about 20 years old. Book Now: Men’s Breakfast at Over Baptist Church
You’re invited to a Men’s Breakfast at the Over Baptist Church (junction of Glover Street and New Road) on Saturday 22nd February from 8.30 to 10.00am. Following a cooked breakfast, our special guest, Giles Cornell will tell us briefly why he is a Christian and how his faith has affected his life and work. Giles has been married for 30 years and has two grown-up children. He has been the Senior Pastor of the Lighthouse Church in Ely for nearly 20 years. The church works hard in the Ely community and has projects to help those facing isolation, loneliness, homelessness and addictions. The church also provides space for young people…

Gardening Club – upcoming meeting
The next Gardening Club meeting is on Wednesday 19th February at 7.30pm in the Over Community Centre Main Hall. The speaker will be Patricia from Oakington Garden Centre talking about their family-run business and their plans for the future. There will be free refreshments available at the start of the meeting. We will have our usual Raffle and the popular Flower of the Month Competition. The tubers for our Growing Potatoes in a Pot Competition will be handed out on the night. Visitors are welcome £3.
